How to Completely Uninstall Linux from a UEFI Windows-Linux Dual Boot in a Safe Way



This Video is about How to uninstall a Linux operating system completely from a PC which has UEFI Windows-Linux Dual Boot.
For this video my PC has Windows 10 and Fedora is installed in an UEFI Dual Boot.

Please be careful when deleting your Linux Partitions in Disk Management. And be double sure before deleting that they are your Linux partitions.

Important: As of Windows 10 Creators Update (Version 1703), Windows PowerShell will show in the Win+X menu by default instead of Command Prompt.
So, to access Command Prompt type “cmd” in Search and then Right Click on “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator”.

By using this tutorial you can Uninstall almost any Linux from your UEFI Windows-Linux Dual Boot PC.

For BIOS Based PC’s:

** This section is only for BIOS Based PC’s. These commands will not work on a UEFI based PC. **

This Video is for UEFI based PCs. So, If you are using a BIOS based PC then the processes is slightly different in BIOS based PCs. In a BIOS based PC, after deleting Linux Partitions, you have to shutdown your PC. And then boot from a System Repair Disc or Windows Installation Media and then open command prompt and type these commands if you are using Windows 7:

bootrec /rebuildbcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot

And if you are using Windows 8/8.1/10 then type these commands:

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

That’s all just Reboot your PC.

  1. Method works perfectly. Thank you so much. I have lenovo, so after I restarted my pc I had to press F12 and select os to boot for 1st time. After that everything went normal.
